Hey there! My name is Annie, and this is my story.
As a young girl, I could never finish my chicken nuggets. In high school, I couldn’t stand to eat lunch in the cafeteria. My freshman year of college, I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa—a restrictive eating disorder.
I got knocked down. I fell apart. Life sucked.
Then I realized the beautiful opportunity laid before me: a second chance. The eating disorder had not claimed my life, so I decided it was time that I do.
That’s why I chose the name “Reconstructing Annie.” I started from where the eating disorder left me and laid a new foundation. One built on hope and love. I am building myself to be stronger and more resilient than ever.
I have been on this journey since July 2014, and it has been simultaneously the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. I hope my story will inspire you to live your healthiest, most incredible life; a life beyond the eating disorder.
I am currently a senior at Eastern Kentucky University studying public relations with aspirations to be the first female host of The Tonight Show. 😉
